The cost of knowledge that only exists in people

Nothing gets written down because everybody already knows it. Then somebody leaves.

New hires ramp by interrupting people
Every question a document could answer costs two people an hour, and gets answered slightly differently each time it is asked.
Runbooks are trusted until 3am
The on-call engineer discovers the step that changed six months ago in the middle of the incident it was written for.
Four wikis, none of them current
Every team started their own, none of them agree, and searching properly means searching all four and reconciling the answers.
Nobody owns the update
The process changed in a meeting. The document describing it did not, because revising it was not on anybody’s list.

One place, with the upkeep built in

Put SOPs, runbooks, onboarding guides, and internal policies in a single project that stays searchable, gated, and current.

  • Require authentication across the whole site, or keep some pages public and gate the rest
  • Sign people in through Okta, Auth0, Azure AD, or any OAuth 2.0 or OIDC provider you already run
  • Give people instant, cited answers from the AI Assistant instead of a Slack ping to a colleague
  • Schedule link, grammar, and navigation audits so drift surfaces before an incident does
  • Organise by product, version, and language, with a landing page on any of them
  • Let your team’s AI tools read the knowledge base through an authenticated MCP endpoint

Access control reaches every surface, including MCP and the AI Assistant, so a gated page stays gated no matter which door somebody arrives through.

What makes people trust it enough to use it

An internal knowledge base fails on findability, freshness, and permissions. These three address them in that order.

Answers without an interruption

The AI Assistant searches your internal documentation and returns grounded answers with citations, so the first question a new hire asks goes to the knowledge base rather than to whoever sits nearest.

Your identity provider, your roles

Private and partial modes support a password, JWT, or OAuth 2.0. JWT and OAuth both carry per-user access roles, so each reader sees the pages their role allows.

Scheduled upkeep

Workflows run daily, weekly, or monthly. Broken link audits, grammar and typo checks, style guide enforcement, and navigation audits each return a report and a commit for review.

Ready for an internal rollout

The controls a security review will ask about, available without an enterprise contract.

3 access modes

Public, partial, and private, configured per project.

OAuth 2.0 + JWT

Okta, Auth0, Azure AD, or tokens issued by your own application.

Per-user roles

JWT and OAuth both support per-user access roles and personalisation.

Scheduled runs

Daily, weekly, or monthly maintenance workflows, plus manual runs.

Frequently asked questions

What operations leads ask before moving internal knowledge.

Can we keep the entire site private?

Yes. Private mode requires authentication on every page, using a password, JWT, or OAuth 2.0.

Will our AI tools be able to read a private knowledge base?

Yes, with credentials. Access-controlled sites expose an /_mcp/auth endpoint supporting OAuth 2.1 for interactive clients and machine-to-machine credentials for automation.

How do we migrate what we already have?

Content is Markdown and MDX. Documentation.AI supports migrations from GitBook, Docusaurus, ReadTheDocs, and custom static sites, and the agent can read attached PDFs, documents, and spreadsheets to convert existing material.

Do non-technical teams need Git?

No. The web editor provides branches, previews, and publishing from the browser, with a visual editing mode and slash commands for components.
